PATHWAYS FOR A STUDENT IN THE COLLEGE OF HEALTH

Ball State's College of Health includes nursing, counseling psychology, social psychology, military science, social work, speech pathology and audiology, and nutrition and health science.

For those within the College of Health, the Digital Media Minor opens doors for education and practical teaching. There is much to know in the fields of nursing and health; with so much information, it can be difficult to teach to others. Our world is becoming digital, so it could be easier to teach using the skills the Digital Media Minor provides.

For example, a student studying Nursing could create an education video for a project or for future employers. With video editing skills and learning to create helpful infographics with image design, a nursing student can spread healthy tips and knowledge of the human body with ease to fellow students and future clients. This could lead to future health apps for clients who need guidance with their health.

  • Recommended Classes Include: ICOM 101, ICOM 212, ICOM 213

For a student studying nutrition and health science, students may become experts in dietetics, health education and promotion, or respiratory therapy. Similar to nursing majors, the Digital Media Minor opens doorways for education.

For example, a Dietetics major could introduce a website specifically meant to help clients track their diet and health, check in, set up appointments, or seek further information. Health educators can create interesting videos and content for their students to interact with. Focusing on user experience and how they might adapt their information to the digital world, health educators can transfer their knowledge outside of their classroom. Imagine combining important health information that can help thousands worldwide through digital storytelling!
